Aimee Mootz

Aimee Mootz, who has been working with domestic and wild animals since the age of 14, began her obedience training and grooming experience when she was 18. Her experience includes working as a veterinary assistant (with related tech work), rehabilitating domestic and feral cats, applying her knowledge of veterinary treatments, emergency medical protocols, along with working with animals under light to heavy sedation.
Aimee has partnered with a veterinarian in Tysons Virginia to open and manage a grooming department. A lifetime member of the American Pet Dog Trainers Association, she also works with ‘Paws for People’, in which she evaluates a dog’s soundness and it’s potential for entering their therapy training program. She has also participated in their final certification process, after which the fully trained dogs get their ‘vests’.
She breeds German Shepherds and acts as midwife in delivering litters for other dog owners. From 1996 until 2000, she competed with Nova K9 Academy in the sport of Schutzhund (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schutzhund).
Aimee is also experienced in tracking, obedience, behavioral modification and puppy socialization.
Aimee has dedicated her entire professional life to the care and wellbeing of animals and even her hobbies are animal friendly. She cares for the horses, stables and grounds on the farm on which she lives.
She is hoping to soon begin the process of receiving her Master Groomer Certificate.
Sarah Sullivan, Manager

Featherle Pet Care is delighted to have Sarah Sullivan as the Manager of our Sterling Salon. Unusual even for seasoned groomers, Sarah has been grooming since she was a child. Her mother, an accountant, groomed dogs as a side profession and Sarah began helping her by bathing. When she expressed an interest in grooming, her mother taught her. Born in Pittsburg, Sarah was raised in Atlanta Georgia and lived in North Carolina before moving to Centreville in March 2008. She has a little girl, Isabelle (Bella) born in 2006, and an older brother, Ben, who is a police officer in Reaford, North Carolina.
Another interest, besides animals and family, is film. She’s interested in all genres and enjoys critiquing the films she watches. She’s also interested in physical fitness and spent 15 years as a gymnast. Sarah’s favorite dogs are Poodles; while growing up, there was always a Standard Poodle living at home and she loves everything about them: the whole package. Currently, she lives with her Bichon, ‘Diogee’, and a year old Toy Poodle named Jema, who Sarah adopted from a Featherle client.
Sarah has attended many grooming shows as well as educational grooming classes, and is eager to receive her Master Groomers Certificate (Jema is helping with her training & certification). She takes great pride in her work and also takes the time to understand what the pet owner is looking for in pet styling. Her greatest satisfaction is a happy dog who knows he looks good and wants everyone else to know by prancing to show off a new style. Her best advice to pet owners is to remember to take good care of your pets and not wait too long to attend to their needs because, after all, they depend on us! Sarah married Kevin Sullivan in September 2009. Kevin works as a painter at Craftsman Auto Body Shop in Chantilly, just across the street from Featherlea. Please see the HOME PAGE to read a letter we received from a pleased client.

Sarah Lutz, Groomer
Our Sterling Salon is happy to have Sarah Lutz grooming our pet clients. Before beginning classes at CanineClippersSchoolin 2008, Sarah had worked as a receptionist at a pet resort, at an animal hospital and also as a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital. Her career goal is to become a National Certified Master Groomer. She enjoys working with animals and considers a job of getting to be with them all day to be the greatest job.
Sarah was born in Denver, Colorado and has lived with animals all her life. She and her husband Derek (who we deeply appreciate for helping us with our website!) have been married since 2010 and live with their dog, ‘Tucker’ and cat, ‘Ranger’.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family (she includes the four legged members), being outdoors, and just enjoying life.
