
Linda Law’s family boasts three generations of pet care and grooming. Currently she manages two pet care salons and is the Director for Canine Clippers School of Pet Grooming. She is also a wife, mother and grandmother and soon looks forward to adding toy poodles and horses to the family farm she owns in Central Virginia. Linda Law has decades of grooming experience and is a Certified Master Groomer with the National Dog Groomers Association of America, Inc. She is certified in grooming Poodles and has passed her Masters with the International Pet Groomers Association. She is a previous competitor in classes of obedience, training, and national grooming competitions. Linda took her last of many awards as 2nd place at the 1991 Atlanta Pet Fair in ‘Scottish Terriers’ Division.
She has been invited to judge and speak the American Kennel Association and at other national grooming competitions.Ms. Law has raised Miniature Schnauzers since 1973, when she learned to groom them for both pet and show. Handstripping is one of the techniques she teaches so that students will know some of both show grooming and pet grooming.Retail and merchandising are two of Ms. Law’s strong points. She has managed a retail pet store with a quota of $400,000 per year (circa 1979). She was also the top salesperson in the chain for two of the three years she was with the company.Ms. Law has bred Rottweilers since 1982, which led her into breed and obedience rings with the AKC, as well as into tracking and protection.
Ms. Law founded the Virginia Groomers Association in 1987. Along with being the Show Coordinator for the annual VGA Grooming Contest in 1992 (classed as a major show by the U.S. Groom Team) she has held several board officer positions. The organization was restructured in 2008 and will have a website in the near future. Please check back for a link. Ms. Law performs demonstrations on several breeds: Scottish Terriers, Poodles, Cocker Spaniels and many others (as exhibited at the Colonial Pro Classic in December 1992).
For those interested in a Mobile Pet Grooming business, Ms. Law has expertise in focusing and calibrating geographic areas in order to service a start up practice. She will counsel the mobile groomer on successful marketing techniques for that area and skills for maintaining a client base in a professional and profitable manner.
Virginia Women in Business of Northern Virginia nominated Ms. Law ‘Enterprise Woman Of The Year’ in 1993. She has excellent skills in managing and training people who are interested in owning their own business. Ms. Law has an innate ability to recognize and hone an individual’s strong points and to apply them to both business and interpersonal relationships. Never idle, she thrives on challenges and problem solving. She is a motivational speaker and teacher and enjoys organizing and leading young people in turning their visions and dreams into reality.
